Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joseph Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joseph Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Frank Rogers!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Santiago Holmes and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones darts in looking for a takedown but Rogers gets double underhooks and turns Jones into the cage.
Rogers lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Rogers throws a sloppy head kick and Jones moves out of range easily.
Jones misses with a takedown attempt - Rogers sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Rogers rushes Jones and presses him up against the cage.
Jones is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Rogers gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joseph Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jones is stalling here.

Rogers breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Rogers uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Jones.
Jones misses with a takedown attempt - Rogers sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Rogers leaves Jones with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Jones's corner calls for a 1-2. Jones obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Rogers pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Jones misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Jones throws a body shot but no joy.
As Jones backs off Rogers throws a huge counter combo but Jones manages to avoid it all.

Rogers gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Rogers manages to break the clinch.
Jones avoids the body shot from Rogers.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Jones wants a takedown.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rogers doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Rogers jumps guard and drags Jones to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Rogers is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Jones trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Rogers is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him.
Rogers seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Jones seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Jones missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Rogers is adopting a defensive guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Jones shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rogers but Rogers pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rogers sprawls well. Rogers wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jones gets slowly back to his feet.
Jones avoids the body shot from Rogers.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jones shoots for a takedown but Rogers saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Rogers throws the kick towards the body but Jones avoids it.
Jones tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Rogers manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Jones takes a head kick and shrugs it off.


It looks like Joseph Jones has been cut.
Jones darts in trying to clinch

and Rogers counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Jones scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Rogers manages to mount him!
Jones is breathing heavily.
Rogers landing strikes, looking to finish!

Rogers lands a heavy elbow.


Jones is rocked!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Rogers dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Joseph Jones's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Jones tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Rogers tries to counter with a clinch but Jones shakes him off and moves away.
Rogers stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rogers wants it to stay on the feet.

Rogers clinches up with Jones and pushes him back against the cage.

Jones is fighting off a takedown attempt but Rogers is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Jones to the mat. Jones regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Rogers with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Oh Jones is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jones might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Jones wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Rogers is now in half guard.
Jones wants to stand back up but Rogers manages to pass into side control.

Rogers controls the position.
Rogers is continuing to stall.
Rogers in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Jones looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Rogers turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
