PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mamoru Takamura (ranked 8729 p4p, 588 weight class) and Punchy McPunchface (ranked 4616 p4p, 429 weight class). Takamura comes into the arena with Pay Money To My Pain - Weight Of My Pride blaring out of the sound system. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takamura misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
McPunchface tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
A solid leg kick lands there for Takamura.

McPunchface darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Takamura definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Takamura avoiding damage under a succession of punches from McPunchface.

Takamura trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McPunchface with shots to the head and body - Takamura looks very uncomfortable down there.
McPunchface lands a couple of good shots and Takamura has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

My spies in Ferocious Beast inform me that McPunchface has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McPunchface lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Takamura hold on?!
McPunchface is punishing Takamura with some ground and pound.
McPunchface scoring with big shots to the body. Takamura is looking for a way out. A despairing look towards the ref and the official steps in to stop the fight. Takamura was obviously done but didn't want to tap out.
