Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shane Austin (ranked 1231 p4p, 182 weight class) and Ralph Gardner (ranked 1471 p4p, 217 weight class). Gardner has chosen Thug Luv as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Shane Austin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 1, fighting out of London, Ralph Gardner!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gardner uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Austin has time to react.


It looks like Shane Austin has been cut.
Gardner throws out a powerful jab.
Austin uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gardner.
Austin is looking to counter the offense by Gardner and move into the clinch.
Austin misses the body punch
enabling Gardner to counter with a crisp jab.
Austin avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
The crowd cheers as Austin lands an impressive looking overhand right. Gardner doesn't seem phased though.
Austin lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Austin defending well as Gardner loads up on a big left hand.
Gardner thows a left - swing and a miss!
Austin moves out of range of the strikes.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Gardner lands with an uppercut that bounces Austin off the ropes and back into range.
Austin scores with a hook to the body. Gardner takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Austin ducks under a wild hook from Gardner.
Gardner gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Austin.

Gardner ducks right into an uppercut from Austin.
Austin throws a body shot but no joy.
Gardner unleashes a big counter combination but Austin bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Gardner throws a looping overhand right but Austin ducks down to avoid it.
Austin throws a lazy uppercut
and Gardner counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Gardner throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Austin stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Austin throws a lazy right hand but Gardner sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Gardner keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Gardner scores with a sloppy right hand. Austin should have avoided that one.


Shane Austin's cut is getting worse.
Gardner blocks a jab.
Austin defending well as Gardner loads up on a big left hand.
Austin was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Austin ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
The fighters circling - Gardner throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gardner slips under a jab from Austin.
Nice straight punches there by Austin. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Austin.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Austin counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Austin takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Austin fails in his attempt to clinch.
Austin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Austin throws an overhand right that lands on Gardner's shoulder, as Gardner tries to avoid the shot.
Gardner displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Austin throws out the jab.
Austin lands a jab to Gardner's midsection.
Gardner keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Gardner takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Gardner misses with a left hand
and Austin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
A big right from Gardner misses.

Austin slips a jab from Gardner.
Gardner connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.


Shane Austin's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Austin has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Gardner finds it's way round the side to connect with Austin's head.
Gardner misses with an uppercut. Austin saw that one coming.
Gardner ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Austin looks to score with a jab to the body but Gardner is just out of range.
Gardner scores with a nice right hand.
Austin blocks a jab.
A slow jab from Gardner misses its intended target.
Austin throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Austin connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Gardner scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Austin clinches with his opponent.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Austin throws a punch but it's blocked by Gardner.
With the fighters up against the ropes, Austin throws an elbow but misses.
Gardner misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Gardner throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Austins head.
Gardner presses Austin against the ropes and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Gardner lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Austin lands with a left to the head.
Gardner tries a body shot but Austin blocks it.
Austin lands an elbow just above Gardner 's eye.
Austin lands with a right to the head.


Gardner is rocked!
A bit of stalling here from Austin.
Gardner is still on wobbly legs! Can Austin finish him?
Austin lands an elbow that stopped Gardner in his tracks for a moment.
Clinched against the ropes, Austin lands a big elbow that drops Gardner! The ref dives in to save him from more shots - Gardner is complaining that he's OK but he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Shane Austin!
