Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Al Swearengen (ranked 5045 p4p, 465 weight class) and Steven Perkins (ranked 7401 p4p, 552 weight class). Perkins is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: I'm in love with the coco. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perkins needs to keep his hands up - Swearengen had a free shot at his head there.

Swearengen jabs Perkins to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Al Swearengen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Swearengen manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Perkins on his heels. He'll look to pass Perkins's guard now, I'm sure.
Perkins wants to stand and escape but Swearengen is having none of it.

Swearengen drops back, looking for a kneebar! Perkins looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Perkins looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Perkins!

Horrible takedown attempt by Swearengen or perhaps it was just good defense by Perkins, which made it look bad.
Perkins doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Swearengen looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Perkins is fending him off so far but Swearengen persists. Nope, Perkins circles away and we're back to standing.

Swearengen shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Swearengen was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Al Swearengen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Perkins sneaks out the side door and pushes Swearengen away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
