Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Earl Caranguian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Piotr Escovedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Caranguian comes to the cage accompanied by Hurt!. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Earl Caranguian!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Piotr Escovedo!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Peter Branson and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Escovedo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Caranguian as he jumps to the side.
Escovedo throws a half hearted mid kick.

Caranguian drives through and clinches with Escovedo against the cage.
Escovedo pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Caranguian ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Caranguian no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Escovedo is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Caranguian is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Escovedo slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Caranguian pulls Escovedo in close to prevent any damage.

Escovedo would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Caranguian is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Caranguian bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Escovedo's guard.

Escovedo looking for a sweep. Not yet Escovedo, not yet.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Caranguian accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Caranguian is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Escovedo is pulling down on Caranguian's head to control his posture.
Caranguian pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Escovedo is keeping the position for now.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Escovedo dives in and grabs Caranguian's left leg, looking for a takedown. Caranguian pushes down on Escovedo's head and hops out.
Caranguian is looking to counter the offense by Escovedo and move into the clinch.

Caranguian shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Escovedo strikes from the bottom but Caranguian uses the opportunity to move to side control.
Caranguian wants to lay and pray for a moment but Escovedo keeps working.

Escovedo is trying to stand back up but Caranguian is controlling him

Caranguian is looking to take a break and control but Escovedo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Caranguian missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Caranguian wants to lay and pray for a moment but Escovedo keeps working.
Escovedo is controlling Caranguian's position as best he can from this difficult position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Escovedo is looking for a sweep. Caranguian is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
An inside leg kick lands from Caranguian.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Caranguian is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Escovedo's half guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Caranguian shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Escovedo's guard.

Escovedo looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Caranguian looking to pass the guard.
Escovedo seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Earl Caranguian overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Escovedo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Caranguian gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Escovedo manages to get to full guard.
Caranguian has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Escovedo has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Caranguian is on him like a limpet, forcing Escovedo back against the cage.

Escovedo has Caranguian pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Caranguian manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Escovedo tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Caranguian just stands there and leans against the cage.

Caranguian pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
No luck for Caranguian with that takedown attempt.
Caranguian misses with a jab, cross combination.
Caranguian darts in looking for a takedown but Escovedo gets double underhooks and turns Caranguian into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Earl Caranguian. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Caranguian feints a jab promting Escovedo to slip. Caranguian then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Escovedo slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Escovedo has closed the distance and engaged Caranguian in a clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Escovedo throws a leg kick
and Caranguian counters with a head kick. That will keep Escovedo thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Escovedo tries to clinch up but Caranguian circles away and keeps his distance.

Caranguian throws a strike but Escovedo rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Caranguian seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Caranguian is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Escovedo can do to turn this around?
Escovedo wants to control from the top but Caranguian keeps moving.

Escovedo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Caranguian as he avoids it easily.
Caranguian looks to throw the jab but Escovedo is out of range.

Caranguian shoots in for a takedown but Escovedo shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Escovedo doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Caranguian defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Escovedo.

Caranguian is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Escovedo is defending well for now.

Caranguian sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Escovedo's guard.
Escovedo desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Escovedo is not content to let Caranguian control the position.
Escovedo is positioning himself well to prevent Caranguian advancing to mount.
Let's hope that Escovedo has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Caranguian stuffs the takedown.
Caranguian darts in looking for a takedown but Escovedo gets double underhooks and turns Caranguian into the cage.

Earl Caranguian is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Escovedo throws a right and a left that Caranguian avoids nicely.

Piotr Escovedo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Caranguian has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
