Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Danny Caesar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David Road!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Caesar cracks Road with a good jab.
Caesar throws a hook but Road blocks it.
Caesar throws a series of punches but Road moves out of range.
Road tries to counter by closing the distance.

Road drives through with a takedown into Caesar's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Caesar is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Road pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Caesar is keeping the position for now.
Caesar controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Road stopping the sweep attempt from Caesar.

Road pushing down on Caesar's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Caesar is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Road scores with a couple of nice shots.
Road wants to control but Caesar is keeping him busy.
Road prevents Caesar from standing back up.
Caesar is looking to improve his position.
Road is trying to control the action in half guard but Caesar is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Caesar throws a right and a left that both miss.

Caesar wants to clinch up but Road keeps it at a distance.
Caesar throws a body punch but Road moves out of range.
Caesar takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Caesar shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Road looking to control.
Road is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Road is trying to control the action in half guard but Caesar is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Caesar could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Road stalling away here and it's allowed Caesar to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Road postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Caesar is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Road won't allow Caesar to get back to his feet.

Caesar has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Road can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Road postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Road looking to sit in guard and control but Caesar gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Caesar pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Road is keeping the position for now.
Caesar trying to control but Road is working from the bottom.
Caesar is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Caesar won't allow Road to sweep him here.
Road pulls Caesar in close to his closed guard and prevents Caesar from doing any damage or advancing position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Danny Caesar will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Caesar connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Road tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Caesar manages to move to mount!
Caesar working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Road gets back to half guard.
Caesar wants to control but Road is keeping him busy.
Caesar drops an elbow to the side of Road's head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Caesar working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Road wants to control but Caesar is keeping busy.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Road can do anything to dispel that myth.

Road is staying active underneath Caesar, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Caesar thows a huge punch but Road dodges it nicely.
Caesar throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Road looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Caesar drops an elbow to the side of Road's head.
Road is trying to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Caesar scoring with strikes to the body and head.

Caesar takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Caesar wants to take a breather but Road is having none of it.
Road is trying to control but Caesar manages to pass to mount!
