PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brody Battle (ranked 1452 p4p, 179 weight class) and Brock Benjamin (ranked 4257 p4p, 488 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Battle might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Pantera - Shedding Skin. Benjamin has chosen Down Under as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Lou da Vinci and Jorge Garcia.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benjamin throws a left and a right that both miss
and Battle counters with a nice uppercut.

It looks like Brock Benjamin has been cut.
Benjamin throws a series of punches but Battle moves out of range.
A little feinted left hand from Battle on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Benjamin throws a big shot that misses.
Benjamin throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Battle displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Benjamin throws out the jab.

Benjamin clinches up with Battle and pushes him back against the cage.
Battle pushes Benjamin back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Battle blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Battle lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Battle tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Battle lands a left hand.

Benjamin is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Battle tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Benjamin avoids it.
Benjamin has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Battle avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Battle creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Benjamin is still on wobbly legs! Can Battle finish him?

Benjamin wants to take the fight to the mat but Battle manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Benjamin tries to work over Battle's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Benjamin can't find room to land a body shot as Battle controls the action.

Benjamin tries to score a body lock takedown but Battle shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Brody Battle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brock Benjamin.

Still in the clinch, Battle scores with a nice short uppercut.

Benjamin's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Battle lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Benjamin to his knees! Battle keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!
