PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rand Randomaire (ranked 24811 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jez Beltran (ranked 8853 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jez Beltran was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Beltran fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Randomaire to the ground. Beltran is now in Randomaire's guard.

Randomaire pushes Beltran off and gets back to his feet.
Randomaire fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Beltran on the side of the head.
Beltran is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Randomaire.
Beltran misses with a takedown
and Randomaire counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Beltran shoots for a double leg takedown but Randomaire sprawls well. He's pushed Beltran's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Randomaire throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Beltran in particular looking to stall.

Beltran is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Randomaire is just riding it out for now. Beltran eventually gives up the hold.

Randomaire is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Beltran can do to turn this around?

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Randomaire misses with some strikes from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Randomaire stalks Beltran and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Beltran's face. Beltran staggers backwards, shaken.

Randomaire throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Beltran was covering up waiting for the punch and Randomaire finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Beltran drops down looking for an ankle pick but Randomaire pulls his leg out and moves away.
Rand Randomaire has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jez Beltran.

Beltran wants to counter with a clinch but Randomaire pushes him away.

Beltran closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Beltran lands in his opponent's guard.
Randomaire on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Randomaire tries to get out of the position.

Beltran drops back looking for a leg! Randomaire is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Randomaire manages to kick Beltran off! Beltran jumps back into Randomaire's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
