PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Gerhard Vettl (ranked 22988 p4p, 149 weight class) and Paul Paulsen (ranked 9051 p4p, 280 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paulsen scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Vettl throws a sloppy body shot
and Paulsen counters with a good low kick that Vettl was not able to check.
Vettl fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Vettl on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Paulsen lands with a kick to the ribs.
Vettl throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Paulsen counters with a thumping low kick.
Paulsen slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

It looks like Gerhard Vettl has been cut.

A slapping leg kick lands for Paulsen.

Vettl is breathing heavily.
Paulsen connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Vettl's hands.
Paulsen connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Paulsen pushes Vettl away with a front kick.
Paulsen throws a quick inside leg kick.
Vettl looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Paulsen throws a shot to the body.

Paulsen scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Both fighters circling a little - Paulsen finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Paulsen lands a nice looking body kick.
Paulsen lands with a straight right. Vettl didn't see that one coming.
Paulsen dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Paulsen lands with a shot to the body.
A solid leg kick lands there for Paulsen.

Paulsen closes the distance and scores with a big combo that sends Vettl crashing to the mat! Vettl uses the ropes to get back to his feet and beat the count. The referee looks concerned but he's going to allow it to continue!

Paulsen scores a flash knockdown with a right hook that drops Vettl to his hands and knees! The ref pushes Paulsen away as he looks to land an illegal blow. Vettl got an extra few seconds to recover there, which could have made all the differences as he stumbles back to his feet. The referee looks into his eyes and decides to allow the bout to continue. Can he survive?!

Vettl is rocked!

Gerhard Vettl's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Paulsen is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Paulsen, right into the meat.
Paulsen throws an overhand right that has Vettl reeling! Paulsen follows up with more punches and Vettl is out cold! This one is all over!

Paul Paulsen decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
