Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mitchell Hobson (ranked 1363 p4p, 216 weight class) and Jan Paul Valens (ranked 1443 p4p, 230 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jan Paul Valens!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Saam Ante and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valens ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Valens shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Hobson tries to kick Valens off but Valens keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Hobson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hobson tries to get out of the position.
Hobson holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Valens looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Hobson is bucking up trying to escape but Valens cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Valens lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Hobson is in a horrible position here. Valens smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Valens has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Valens postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Hobson looks a forlorn figure.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Valens lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Hobson is rocked!
The referee warns Hobson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Oh Hobson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Hobson is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Killer Instinct ☠ that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Valens swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
