The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Sam Margolis and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCann dives in and scores a takedown into Thornton's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thornton is trying to hold McCann in close to prevent damage but McCann has managed to pass into half guard.

McCann is taking a breather. Thornton says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
McCann wants to stand but Thornton has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Thornton decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in McCann's guard.
McCann is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Thornton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
McCann working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Thornton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Thornton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

McCann has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Thornton doesn't defend quickly enough and McCann has managed to lock this one up! Can Thornton escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to McCann on a fantastic submission victory.
