Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alex Foster (ranked 7179 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerard Heinrich (ranked 6509 p4p, 0 weight class). Gerard Heinrich will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alex Foster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gerard Heinrich!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Winston Howard and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Heinrich clinches up with Foster and pushes him back against the cage.
Foster manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Heinrich gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.


It looks like Alex Foster has been cut.

Heinrich gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Foster is controlling Heinrich's posture.
Foster wants to stand but Heinrich is controlling the position.
Heinrich slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Heinrich looking to sit in guard and control but Foster gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


That's one minute gone in the round.
Heinrich looking to control.

Foster is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Foster throwing strikes from guard but Heinrich blocks nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Heinrich is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Foster is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Foster really is a fat lump.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Heinrich is looking to stand up but Foster isn't so interested in that idea.
Heinrich wants to sweep here but Foster controlling him for the moment.
Foster landing with the ground and pound.
Heinrich wants to control but Foster passes easily into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Foster is trying to control. Heinrich wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Foster is trying to work for a kimura but Heinrich is defending well.
Foster sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Heinrich defending well though.
Foster winds up and cracks Heinrich with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Heinrich looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Heinrich avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Foster.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Heinrich.

Foster struggling a bit here.
Heinrich misses with the ground and pound.
Heinrich tries to move to full mount but Foster actually manages to regain half guard.
Foster has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Heinrich slows the pace down in half guard.
Foster flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Heinrich stops Foster from getting back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Alex Foster will probably get the nod.

Heinrich tries to keep at a distance but Foster has taken the fight into the clinch.

Heinrich lands a takedown into guard.
Foster tries to strike from the bottom.
Foster keeping moving, preventing Heinrich from controlling successfully.
Heinrich being controlled here momentarily.
Heinrich prevents Foster from getting back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Foster is trying to keep Heinrich in close.
Alex Foster overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Foster pulls Heinrich in close to prevent any damage.

Heinrich wants to control from the top but Foster keeps moving.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Foster is looking for a triangle but Heinrich pushes his legs off easily.

Foster looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Heinrich has picked Foster up and slammed him! Foster can't keep hold of the triangle and Heinrich manages to pass to side control!
Foster wants to control but Heinrich postures up.
Heinrich tries to stand but Foster is controlling his head.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Heinrich moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Heinrich's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Heinrich is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Foster's half guard.
Foster blocking the ground and pound attempt from Heinrich.
Foster wants to get back to full guard.
Foster is working hard here to advance position.

Heinrich is thwarting Foster's attempts to control the position.
Heinrich trying to control the action but Foster is working from the bottom.
Heinrich is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Heinrich throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Foster has his hands clasped together but Heinrich breaks the hold and Foster is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Heinrich!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Gerard Heinrich!
Gerard Heinrich decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
