Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brannigan Steele (ranked 3793 p4p, 499 weight class) and Andrew West (ranked 2820 p4p, 406 weight class). West has chosen Roy Jones - Can't be touched as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Andrew West enters the cage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West throws a leg kick but Steele sees it coming and moves out of range.
We've been hearing reports that Steele has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
A combination from West does no damage.

Steele throws a right and a left that West avoids nicely.
Steele throws a looping overhand right but West ducks down to avoid it.

West throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Steele looks to score with a jab to the body but West is just out of range.
West throws a low kick, looking for Steele's leg but Steele calmly moves out of range.
West fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Steele manages to avoid it.

and West makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Steele takes one on the button.
West misses with a hook.
Steele connects with an inside leg kick.
West cracks Steele with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Steele fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but West avoids it really well and circles away.
West looks to score with a jab to the body but Steele is just out of range.
Steele on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
West throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
West stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and West wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brannigan Steele. That's going to take a lot out of him.
West walks forward, straight into a front kick from Steele.
Steele misses with a low kick.

Steele closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into West's guard.

West has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Steele has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Steele avoids the elbow strike from West, against the cage.

Steele gets control of West's arms and successfully pulls guard. Steele will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Steele wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

West throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Steele works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

West stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Steele throws up his legs and catches West in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! West tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Steele! That came out of nowhere!
