Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Bailey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matt Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bailey fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Hughes checks it well.
Hughes moves out of range of the body kick.
Bailey misses with a double jab
and Hughes cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Bailey lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hughes circles away quickly and effectively.
Bailey misses with a lunging right hand
and Hughes counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Bailey misses with a wild body shot.
Bailey fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hughes manages to avoid it.
Hughes avoids the body shot from Bailey.
Hughes drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Bailey defends it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bailey punishes Hughes's body with a nice straight punch.
Bailey swings for the body but Hughes moves out of range.
Nice body punch from Bailey.
Hughes takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Bailey is looking to wear down Hughes with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
A leg kick checked by Hughes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bailey ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hughes moves away.
We've been told by Bailey's head coaches at White Lotus that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Bailey takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Hughes lands a left and a right that send Bailey crashing to the mat, dazed. Hughes thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Bailey is rocked!
A head kick by Bailey misses
and Hughes counters with a crisp right that sends Bailey to the canvas! Hughes follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matt Hughes!
An out of breath Matt Hughes thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
