PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fichtl Rychlik (ranked 9356 p4p, 845 weight class) and Jeremy Torico (ranked 24894 p4p, 936 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fichtl Rychlik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jeremy Torico!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Torico pushes Rychlik up against the cage in a clinch.

Torico's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Rychlik fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Torico to the ground. Rychlik is now in Torico's guard.
Rychlik wants to control from the top but Torico keeps moving.
Torico is looking to stand up but Rychlik isn't so interested in that idea.
Rychlik landing with the ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Torico kicks Rychlik off and gets to his feet.
Rychlik looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Torico is fending him off so far but Rychlik persists. Nope, Torico circles away and we're back to standing.

Torico has managed to clinch.

Rychlik escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rychlik tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Torico manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Torico drives through and clinches with Rychlik against the cage.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Rychlik's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Jeremy Torico seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rychlik tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Torico decides to stand up, so the ref orders Rychlik to his feet.

Torico forces Rychlik back against the cage and clinches.

Rychlik loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Rychlik has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Torico is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Rychlik presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Torico pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Rychlik throws the kick towards the body but Torico avoids it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rychlik looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Torico looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Torico avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Torico lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Torico lands an overhand right.
Torico closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rychlik circles away.

Rychlik closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Torico to the mat! Torico manages to get full guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Torico pushes Rychlik off and gets back to his feet.
Torico goes for a double leg but Rychlik avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rychlik continues to drive forward.
Torico fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Rychlik is looking to counter with head kicks.
Fichtl Rychlik has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeremy Torico.
Rychlik throws a looping overhand right but Torico ducks down to avoid it.
Rychlik tries for a takedown but Torico sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Torico has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Torico is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Rychlik jumps guard but Torico turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Rychlik is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Torico is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Torico has escaped and now he's on top!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Rychlik is working an open guard so Torico takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Rychlik really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Rychlik throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Torico's waist but Torico gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rychlik off to one side.
Torico digs a good body shot into Rychlik's ribs.
Torico slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Torico moves into range and clinches up with Rychlik.

Torico has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rychlik uses from the top position.

Jeremy Torico showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Torico shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rychlik sprawls well. Rychlik wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Torico gets slowly back to his feet.

The referee is keeping an eye on Torico - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Torico gets caught flat footed, as Rychlik shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Torico has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Rychlik off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Torico has taken the fight to the clinch.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Torico manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Torico has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Rychlik regains guard immediately.

Torico gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Torico closes the distance and clinches.

Torico is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Rychlik can't fight it off and eventually Torico manages to take the fight to the floor. Rychlik looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Well Torico has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
