Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sterling Rutledge (ranked 6616 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martin Westerhof (ranked 6613 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Martin Westerhof!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Westerhof looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Rutledge feinted with a counter takedown.
A combination from Rutledge does no damage.

Westerhof clinches with his opponent.
Rutledge goes for a takedown attempt but Westerhof pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Westerhof has managed to clinch.
Rutledge is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rutledge escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Westerhof throws a nice looking combination but Rutledge bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Westerhof is looking for a kimura but Rutledge is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Westerhof to get the leverage.

That's time! Rutledge's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Rutledge looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Rutledge is looking for a takedown.

Rutledge is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Westerhof can't fight it off and eventually Rutledge manages to take the fight to the floor. Westerhof looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Westerhof manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Westerhof gets tackled into the cage by Rutledge. Rutledge maintains the clinch.

Rutledge tries to break the clinch but Westerhof is controlling the position.
Rutledge has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Westerhof is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Rutledge has Westerhof pressed against the cage, preventing Westerhof from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Westerhof is defending well against a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sterling Rutledge. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Rutledge tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
BOOM! Westerhof connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Rutledge wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Westerhof.
Westerhof lands with some strikes.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Westerhof takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Westerhof lands a big shot there that rocks Rutledge but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.


Rutledge is rocked!
Westerhof loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Rutledge scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Westerhof land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Westerhof stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Martin Westerhof!
