PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kirk Sims (ranked 6119 p4p, 316 weight class) and Ezekiel Ithamar (ranked 5464 p4p, 286 weight class). Ithamar has chosen Yamma Ensemble Psalms 104 as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ithamar circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ithamar avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ithamar with the counter takedown but Sims avoids it easily.

Ithamar clinches up with Sims and pushes him back against the cage.
Ithamar tries for a takedown. No joy.
Sims jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ithamar walks away with a smile on his face. Sims gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Sims looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ithamar is fending him off so far but Sims persists. Nope, Ithamar circles away and we're back to standing.

and Sims counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Ithamar has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Sims is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ithamar sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kirk Sims. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ithamar looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sims is fending him off so far but Ithamar persists. Nope, Sims circles away and we're back to standing.
As Ithamar looks to move away, Sims throws a big counter combo but Ithamar just gets out of the way.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sims darts in looking for a takedown but Ithamar gets double underhooks and turns Sims into the cage.
Ithamar defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sims.
Sims is looking to clinch but Ithamar is avoiding it.

Ithamar shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Ithamar was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sims is working to avoid the ground and pound but Ithamar connects with a decent elbow.

Ithamar is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sims is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Sims is trying to improve his position.
Check out the look on Ithamar's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Sims is looking to reverse the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ithamar tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Sims can't do much from the bottom here.

Ithamar happy to just control the position for now.
Ithamar has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Sims is looking to regain half guard here but Ithamar keeps moving and retains side control.
Ithamar grinds an elbow into Sims's temple.

Ithamar has hold of Sims's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Sims seems comfortable defending it but Ithamar has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Sims is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Sims is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Ithamar couldn't care less - he's delighted!
