Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Aron Lee (ranked 25446 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ed Palmer (ranked 6496 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Aron Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ed Palmer !
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Eliza Hachem and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Palmer gets a double leg takedown into Lee's guard.
Palmer postures up.
Lee being controlled here, momentarily.
Lee keeping full guard, as Palmer tries to pass.
Lee keeping moving, preventing Palmer from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lee is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Palmer is controlling him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lee is trying to control the position but Palmer postures up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Lee misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Lee.

Lee gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Lee pushes Palmer off and scrambles back to his feet.
Lee really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Palmer throws a head kick that misses.

Palmer shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lee wants to stand up but Palmer is controlling him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Lee has his feet on Palmer 's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Palmer closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lee quickly recovers to half guard.

Lee has one foot on Palmer 's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Lee fails with a takedown attempt.
Palmer is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aron Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Palmer defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lee.
Palmer drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Lee defends it well.
Palmer throws a poor cross that misses
and Lee counters with a straight right hand.

Palmer closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Palmer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lee. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Lee is trying to maintain the position but Palmer is very close to passing his half guard.
Lee is breathing heavily.
Palmer trying to control from half guard but Lee is working away.
Lee is trying to control but Palmer manages to pass to mount!

Palmer goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Lee turns into him and now he's in Palmer 's guard.
Palmer working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Lee.
Lee will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lee connects with a couple of short punches.

Lee stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Lee shoots in for a double leg but Palmer sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Palmer gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Lee is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Palmer to keep the fight standing.

Palmer pulls guard successfully.
Palmer avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Lee decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Palmer misses with a low kick.

Palmer gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Lee can't get the takedown.

Palmer breaks the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ed Palmer will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Lee gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Palmer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lee swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lee is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Palmer prevents Lee from getting back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Palmer trying to control but Lee is working from the bottom.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Lee manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lee blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Lee is trying to break the clinch but Palmer has him pressed against the cage.

Palmer breaks the clinch.
Palmer lands a leg kick that knocks Lee off balance momentarily.

Palmer clinches up with Lee and pushes him back against the cage.

Palmer pulls Lee into guard.
Lee is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Lee throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Palmer uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Palmer has Lee up against the cage in a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Palmer is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Lee can't fight it off and eventually Palmer manages to take the fight to the floor. Lee looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Lee is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Palmer presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Palmer is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Palmer is trying to force a seperation but Lee has the dominant position.
The referee calls for Palmer to work.
Lee wants to take the fight to the mat but Palmer manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Palmer escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Palmer decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Lee manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Lee on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Palmer drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Lee gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lee looks like he's trying to stand up.

Lee kicks off Palmer and gets to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Palmer thumps Lee with a low kick.
Palmer lands with a thumping leg kick.

Lee closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Palmer 's guard.

Lee stands up from Palmer 's guard - Lee perhaps looking for a knockout.

Lee closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Lee decides to stand and escape the position.

Lee looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Palmer !
Lee is chipping away with strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Aron Lee will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



A momentary lapse in concentration from Lee enables Palmer to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lee manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Lee has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Palmer is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Palmer turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Palmer tries for a kimura but Lee is defending well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lee throws Palmer to one side and escapes!
Ed Palmer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Palmer takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Palmer shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Lee manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Lee kicks Palmer off and gets to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Lee fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Palmer to the ground. Lee is now in Palmer 's guard.

Lee decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Palmer , up you get!

Lee dives in and scores a takedown into Palmer 's guard.
Lee working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Lee gets to his feet. Palmer looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Ed Palmer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lee looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Lee misses with a takedown attempt - Palmer sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Palmer dives in and scores a takedown into Lee's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lee is looking to stand up but Palmer isn't so interested in that idea.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Palmer with a flurry of punches that miss.
Palmer engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Palmer missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Lee lands a good elbow from the bottom.
Lee manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Palmer manages to get himself to full guard.


That's three minutes gone in the round.

Lee gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Palmer decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Palmer is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Palmer wants to stand up but Lee is controlling the position.
Lee gets back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lee wants to stand up but Palmer is controlling him.

Lee scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Palmer darts in and clinches Lee up against the cage.

Palmer manages to pull guard.
Palmer wants to stand up but Lee is controlling him.

Lee gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

And that's the end of the fight!
Aron Lee showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Lee has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
