Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gerard Heinrich (ranked 5273 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Winters (ranked 6061 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gerard Heinrich!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jonathan Winters!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Francis DeMontford and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Winters misses with the combination.
Winters keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Heinrich scores with a takedown into Winters's guard.
Heinrich wants to get up but he can't break Winters's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Winters escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Heinrich gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Winters had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Heinrich defends it easily.
Winters can't keep his opponent in guard - Heinrich advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Winters slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Heinrich wants to control from the top but Winters keeps moving.

Winters working for a triangle but Heinrich defends it easily.
Winters trying to keep a closed guard but Heinrich is proving a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Winters manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Winters is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Heinrich is aware though and is defending well.

Winters has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Heinrich can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Winters stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Winters wants it to stay on the feet.

and Heinrich decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Winters's guard.

Heinrich wanted to stand there but Winters had control of the position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Winters manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Heinrich's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Heinrich dives in and scores a takedown into Winters's guard.
Winters can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Heinrich controls the pace.

Winters looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Winters is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Heinrich looking to pass the guard.
Heinrich works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Heinrich wants to free his trapped foot but Winters is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Winters is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Heinrich perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Winters wants to get back to his feet.

Heinrich decides to return to a standing position.

Winters pushes Heinrich up against the cage in a clinch.
Heinrich stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Heinrich is looking to take this one to the mat.

Winters has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Heinrich will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Winters up against the cage.

It looked like Heinrich was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Winters is breathing heavily.
Winters avoids the head kick by Heinrich.
Heinrich fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Winters is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Winters doesn't manage to clinch there - Heinrich circles away.
Heinrich closes the distance and clinches up with Winters, looking for a takedown. Heinrich pushes Winters against the cage but Winters circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Heinrich shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Winters's guard.
Heinrich might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Heinrich wants to control from the top but Winters keeps moving.

Winters is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Heinrich presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Heinrich breaks the clinch.
Heinrich explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Heinrich throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Winters tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Heinrich is in Winters's guard.
Winters is wriggling around but Heinrich manages to pass to half guard.

Winters pushes Heinrich off looking to stand but Heinrich dives back in and keeps control.

Heinrich seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Winters does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Winters has hold of Heinrich's hands but Heinrich slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Winters manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Winters pushes Heinrich up against the cage in a clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Winters throws a punch but it's blocked by Heinrich.

Heinrich gets control of Winters's arms and successfully pulls guard. Heinrich will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Winters prevents Heinrich from getting back to his feet.

Winters drops back, looking for a kneebar! Heinrich looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Heinrich looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Heinrich!


Heinrich tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Heinrich has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Winters is trying to control Heinrich's posture but Heinrich avoids it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Gerard Heinrich will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!

and Heinrich counters with a nice kick to the body.

Heinrich shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Winters as he avoids it easily.
Winters unleashes a big counter combination but Heinrich bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Winters has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Heinrich is on him like a limpet, forcing Winters back against the cage.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Heinrich winds up and cracks Winters with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Winters gets caught napping as Heinrich dives in and scores a takedown. Winters manages to retain guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

I think Winters has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
