I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ivo Alves was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves looks to throw a body kick

and Valentine counters with a single leg into guard. Alves didn't expect that.
Alves is looking to stand up but Valentine isn't so interested in that idea.
Alves has Valentine pulled in close to control his posture.
Valentine is in close to Alves's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Alves is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Alves wants to take a breather but Valentine is having none of it.
Valentine is looking to control Alves's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Valentine avoid being mounted?
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Valentine is concentrating on defense, preventing Alves from advancing position.
Alves is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Alves in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Valentine tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Alves!
