PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alexei Mikhailov (ranked 2080 p4p, 322 weight class) and Borys Hund (ranked 4624 p4p, 599 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alexei Mikhailov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Borys Hund!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mikhailov keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hund throws an off balance right hand

and Mikhailov counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Hund is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Mikhailov pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Hund changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mikhailov fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Alexei Mikhailov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Borys Hund.
Hund keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Mikhailov slaps away a takedown attempt from Hund, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Mikhailov definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Hund fails to land the takedown.
Mikhailov dodges the punch combination from Hund.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hund fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Mikhailov throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A countering left hand to the body from Hund misses.
Mikhailov misses with a few strikes there.
As Mikhailov backs off Hund throws a huge counter combo but Mikhailov manages to avoid it all.
Mikhailov tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hund was well out of range. Poor timing from Mikhailov.

Hund drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hund trying to control the position from guard on top but Mikhailov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mikhailov pulls Hund in close to prevent any damage.
Hund controlling from the top position.

Mikhailov working for a triangle but Hund defends it easily.
Mikhailov looking to control but Hund passes into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hund thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mikhailov's head.
Mikhailov keeping control of the position.
Mikhailov trying to control but Hund postures up.

Hund is working for a submission of some sort.
Mikhailov is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Mikhailov has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hund is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hund prevents Mikhailov from improving his position.

Hund seems to be looking for submissions.
Mikhailov slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Mikhailov manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hund manages to get himself to full guard.


Mikhailov is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Mikhailov is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Hund looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mikhailov is one step ahead there.
Hund keeping busy, throwing shots from the bottom.

Hund had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mikhailov defends it easily.

Hund looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Mikhailov passes into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mikhailov wants to control but Hund is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alexei Mikhailov dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Mikhailov takes a swing at Hund's ribcage but misses.
Hund looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Mikhailov appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Mikhailov looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Hund!
Mikhailov controlling the position from side mount.
Mikhailov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hund keeps working.

Mikhailov tries for a kimura but Hund is defending well.

Hund is pushing Mikhailov's head away, looking to escape. Mikhailov manages to hold on to the position though.
Hund is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Mikhailov is looking to take a break and control but Hund is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Hund is looking for a sweep.
Hund felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Mikhailov advances nicely into full mount.
Mikhailov blocks Hund's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Mikhailov lands a big shot there that rocks Hund but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Hund wants to hold on but Mikhailov pushes him away.
Hund working to try and regain half guard.
Mikhailov looking to control and managing it successfully.

Mikhailov jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Hund is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Hund and Mikhailov has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Mikhailov wants to control but Hund is keeping him busy.
Hund takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Mikhailov trying to control the action but Hund is working from the bottom.
Mikhailov advances nicely into full mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hund can't escape the position.
Mikhailov is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hund can do to turn this around?
Hund keeps trying to improve his position.
Mikhailov takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Mikhailov landing strikes from the mount.
Hund keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Mikhailov is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Hund is surviving well by controlling Mikhailov's body position as best he can.

Mikhailov content just to control the position here.
Mikhailov lands a heavy elbow.
Hund is wriggling around trying to escape.
Mikhailov lands a couple of good shots and Hund has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Mikhailov is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Hund taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Mikhailov.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Alexei Mikhailov!
Alexei Mikhailov gave a mention to Red Light Coffeeshop in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
Borys Hund spoke after the fight, saying 'I need a rope'.
