PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robb Wallace (ranked 3952 p4p, 534 weight class) and Emon Yang (ranked 5183 p4p, 641 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Wallace might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Venus - Theatre of Tragedy. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Yang instigates a clinch.

Yang breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Yang rushes Wallace and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Yang lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Yang is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Wallace pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Wallace has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Yang decides to pull guard.
Wallace working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yang has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Yang lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wallace keeping moving, preventing Yang from controlling successfully.
Wallace is looking to stand up but Yang isn't so interested in that idea.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Yang slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Wallace trying to control the position.
Yang wants to control from the top but Wallace keeps moving.
Yang throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wallace works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Wallace on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Wallace tries to get out of the position.
Yang prevents Wallace from getting back to his feet.
Yang loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Wallace wants to get back to his feet but Yang passes into half guard.
Yang is keen to just control but Wallace is a slippery customer.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Wallace wants to get back to his feet.
Wallace tries to roll over but Yang keeps him under control.
Wallace is refusing to be controlled, as Yang sits in half guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Wallace leaves Yang with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Wallace drops down looking for a counter takedown but Yang sprawls and moves away.
Yang darts in looking for a takedown but Wallace gets double underhooks and turns Yang into the cage.
Robb Wallace has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Emon Yang.

Wallace shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Yang is trying to defend but Wallace finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Yang wants to control but Wallace is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Wallace is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Yang is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Wallace scores with a couple of nice shots.

Wallace looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Yang has hold of Wallace's hands but Wallace slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Yang is rocked!
Wallace scores with a big shot! Yang's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Yang! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!

Robb Wallace decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
