Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sjaardsen Hooj!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hessler tries to work over Hooj's front leg with a kick but Hooj checks it.
Hessler throws a jab but it's blocked by Hooj.
A little jabbing left from Hooj on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Hooj throws a right hand that misses
and Hessler counters with a nice uppercut.
Hooj misses with a right hand
and Hessler makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Hooj throws out a loose jab but Hessler uses good head movement to avoid it.
Hooj moves out of range as Hessler strikes.
Hooj thows a left - swing and a miss!
Hooj throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hessler misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hooj.
A nice side step and Hooj releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hooj misses with an uppercut. Hessler saw that one coming.
Hessler swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Hooj counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hessler moves out of range of the strikes.
It looked like Hessler wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Hooj pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Hessler was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Hooj loads up on a big right hand but Hessler slips the punch.
Hessler throws a poor cross that misses
and Hooj counters with a left to the body.
Hooj lands the left hand.
Hessler moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
A big right from Hessler misses.
Hooj throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Hessler jabs at Hooj's body.
Hessler walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Hessler throws a hook but Hooj blocks it.
Hooj pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
A little feinted left hand from Hessler on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Hessler throws a lazy uppercut
and Hooj connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Hessler gets cracked there but stands up to it.
A slow jab from Hessler misses its intended target.
It seemed like Hooj was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Hessler fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Hooj is out of range.
Hooj now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Hooj misses with a wild body shot.
Hooj throws a lazy uppercut
and Hessler counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A slow jab from Hooj misses its intended target.
Hooj misses the shot to the body.
Hessler ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Hessler uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hooj.
Hessler quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Hooj throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hooj moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hooj swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Hessler counters with a head kick that drops Hooj to the mat! Hooj scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Hooj is rocked!
Hessler lunges in with a left hook that violently twists Hooj head around and knocks him out cold! Hessler hops onto the cage and yells out at the top of his lungs - Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah! They're showing the replay on the big screens now; that was nasty! I hope one of the photographers got a good shot of it.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Clinton Hessler!
