AD484: Abnormal Rhythm PBP Commentary



The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Naharis bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

It looks like Daniel O'Sullivan has been cut.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
O'Sullivan finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
O'Sullivan throws a nice outside leg kick.
Naharis lands a jab to the nose.
O'Sullivan lands a body shot.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Naharis has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That kick from O'Sullivan tenderised Naharis's leg. Naharis is trying to keep his angry face on.
Naharis uses good head movement to avoid the hook from O'Sullivan.

O'Sullivan feints and then cracks Naharis's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Naharis down.
O'Sullivan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Naharis drops down looking to force a counter takedown but O'Sullivan defends it well.
O'Sullivan catches Naharis with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by O'Sullivan.

O'Sullivan closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - O'Sullivan lands in his opponent's guard.
Naharis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Naharis looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
O'Sullivan wants to pass the guard but Naharis is keeping the position.

O'Sullivan drops back looking for a leg! Naharis is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Naharis manages to kick O'Sullivan off! O'Sullivan jumps back into Naharis's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
O'Sullivan slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Naharis is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but O'Sullivan is staying active.

O'Sullivan is working for a guillotine from mount but Naharis frees his head quite easily.

O'Sullivan fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Naharis looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Naharis takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

O'Sullivan scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Naharis on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
O'Sullivan scores with a sloppy right hand. Naharis should have avoided that one.

and Naharis counters with a nice double leg into side control. O'Sullivan won't be happy with that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
O'Sullivan is looking to reverse the position.

O'Sullivan prevents Naharis from moving into mount.
O'Sullivan is trying to get back to half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
O'Sullivan being controlled for a moment.
Naharis throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
O'Sullivan wants to control but Naharis postures up.
O'Sullivan manages to work his way to half guard, despite Naharis's best efforts.
Naharis is trying to control. O'Sullivan wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
O'Sullivan slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

O'Sullivan is looking for a triangle but Naharis pushes his legs off easily.
O'Sullivan tries to land a sweep but no joy.
O'Sullivan is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Naharis can do to turn this around?
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That was a close second round but I would say that Daniel O'Sullivan will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Naharis throws an off balance right hand
and O'Sullivan counters with a nice uppercut.

O'Sullivan half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Naharis unleashes a big counter combination but O'Sullivan bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

A telegraphed right hand from Naharis misses the target.
O'Sullivan changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
A jab lands there for O'Sullivan.

and Naharis counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends O'Sullivan down! Naharis is looking to finish but O'Sullivan is intelligently defending himself.

O'Sullivan is rocked!
Naharis seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Oh O'Sullivan is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Naharis avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
O'Sullivan trying to keep a closed guard but Naharis is proving a slippery customer.
Naharis controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
O'Sullivan seems to have got his legs back now.

Naharis has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing O'Sullivan to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Naharis is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - O'Sullivan pulls down on the head and he's put Naharis to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Daniel O'Sullivan!
