PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between David Taylor (ranked 8676 p4p, 797 weight class) and Tiago Franco (ranked 22775 p4p, 884 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Tiago Franco was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Taylor !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tiago Franco!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Richard Clark and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Franco's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Franco duly obliges.


It looks like David Taylor has been cut.

Taylor gets a clinch.
Franco has Taylor pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Taylor manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Franco pulls guard successfully.
Taylor tries to stand but Franco is controlling from the bottom.

Franco controls Taylor momentarily but Taylor frees himself.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Taylor manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Franco on his heels. He'll look to pass Franco's guard now, I'm sure.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Taylor closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Taylor slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Franco manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Taylor escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Franco will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Franco misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A quick step to the side and Taylor tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Taylor shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Taylor was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Taylor stands up.

Franco rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Taylor moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Franco moves to clinch but Taylor breaks away
and Taylor counters with a nice uppercut.

Taylor shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Taylor was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Franco is looking to regain half guard here but Taylor keeps moving and retains side control.
Taylor cracks Franco with a big elbow.
Taylor has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Franco!

Taylor jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Franco is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Franco and Taylor has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Taylor , winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
