Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Luther Jones (ranked 1028 p4p, 141 weight class) and Al Rush (ranked 1612 p4p, 213 weight class). Al Rush has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Luther Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Al Rush!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Daniel Franklin and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rush lands a right hook to the body.
Jones looks for a takedown but Rush sprawls well.
Rush lands with a nice body punch.
A swing and a miss from Rush.
Rush jabs Jones to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Jones lunges at Rush with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Rush's hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rush throws out a loose jab but Jones uses good head movement to avoid it.
We've been told by Jones's head coaches at Gizmo's Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Jones avoids the body shot from Rush.
Rush misses with a straight right.

Jones uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Rush has time to react.
Jones defending well as Rush loads up on a big left hand.
Rush fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Jones looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Rush moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


It looks like Luther Jones has been cut.
Rush throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Jones walks into a jab.
Jab, jab by Rush - just one landing.
Jones tries to clinch up.
Rush throws out a counter right but Jones avoids it with no problem.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A shot to the liver by Rush. Beautiful body shot.
Jones shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Rush cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rush swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but Rush shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Luther Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rush throws an off balance right hand

and Jones counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Rush is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jones is pushing down on Rush's leg trying to pass to half guard. Rush is fighting to maintain full guard but Jones has managed to sneak the leg through.
Jones is keen to just control but Rush is a slippery customer.

Jones prevents Rush from improving his position.
Jones lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.


It looks like Al Rush has been cut.
Rush is doing well to control the position and prevent Jones from advancing to side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rush can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jones lands strikes from half guard.
Jones trying to pass the guard but Rush defending well.
Jones thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rush's head.
Jones with the ground and pound but Rush uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Jones works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Jones is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Jones is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rush defends it well.
Rush is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Jones jumps into side control!
The strikes coming from Jones are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Rush avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Jones.
Jones is working Rush over with some ground and pound from side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones laying and praying for a moment but Rush takes advantage and regains half guard.

Al Rush dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.

Jones moves out of range of the strikes.
Rush ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Rush throws a shot from downtown. Jones moves away and avoids it.
Rush has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Jones tries for a takedown but Rush sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Rush cracks Jones with an open hand slap.
Jones uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Rush.
Jones changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Jones ducks right into an uppercut from Rush.
Rush throws an overhand right that lands on Jones's shoulder, as Jones tries to avoid the shot.
Jones uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Rush.
Jones attempts a counter takedown but Rush avoids it well and moves away.
Jones misses with a wild body shot.
Rush leaves Jones with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Jones shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Rush throws out a counter right but Jones avoids it with no problem.

A nice right hand lands inside from Rush.

Jones avoids the elbow strike from Rush, against the cage.

Jones has clasped his hands together around Rush's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Jones has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jones throws an elbow but Rush slips to the side and avoids it well.

Rush really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jones advances to full mount.
Jones throws a wild left hand from mount and Rush manages to wriggle his way back to half guard.
Rush won't allow Jones to pass to mount.

Jones is trying to control the action in half guard but Rush is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Jones works his foot free and advances to mount.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jones looking to finish with strikes here!
Jones is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Rush can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Rush gets back to half guard.
Jones slips a nice elbow through Rush's hands, connecting with Rush's forehead.


That has opened up Al Rush's cut even more.
Jones not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Rush tries to roll over but Jones keeps him under control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Al Rush will probably get the nod - 10:9.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Jones scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
You can see the frustration on Rush's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Jones tries to advance to mount but Rush instead regains half guard.
Luther Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Rush wants to control but Jones is keeping busy.

The cut above Al Rush's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Rush moves into full guard.

Jones wants to control from the top but Rush keeps moving.
Jones stands up over Rush, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.


Al Rush's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Al Rush's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Luther Jones!
Luther Jones decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
