PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Grady Froelich (ranked 23804 p4p, 916 weight class) and Pierre St George (ranked 5408 p4p, 662 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Grady Froelich!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pierre St George!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Lou da Vinci and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Froelich with a lazy takedown attempt
and St George counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
St George stuffs the takedown attempt from Froelich. Froelich gets slowly back to his feet.
St George looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

St George manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Froelich on his heels. He'll look to pass Froelich's guard now, I'm sure.
St George stands up over Froelich, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Froelich takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
St George cracks Froelich with a big right hand but Froelich just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
St George works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Froelich will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Froelich is fighting to break St George's control of his arms but St George is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Froelich is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Pierre St George showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
St George is continuing to stall.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Froelich shoots in for a double leg but St George sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
St George is trying to drag Froelich to the mat but Froelich just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Pierre St George comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well St George has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
