Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyrone Simmons!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Erik Odinsson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Odinsson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
As Odinsson tries to get set, Simmons tries to push him back and clinch up but Odinsson manages to avoid the attempt.

Simmons shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Odinsson is trying to defend but Simmons finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Simmons lands strikes from half guard.

Simmons is working for a submission of some sort.
Simmons seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Simmons is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Odinsson is just riding it out for now. Simmons eventually gives up the hold.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Simmons seems to be working for a kimura but Odinsson defends the submission attempt.
Odinsson is looking to escape.
Odinsson is trying to escape back to his feet but Simmons uses the scramble to pass into side control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Simmons decides to stand back up.
Simmons fails with the takedown
and Odinsson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Odinsson fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Simmons moves into the clinch.

Simmons breaks from the clinch.
Odinsson throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Simmons on the side of the head.


It looks like Tyrone Simmons has been cut.
Simmons doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Simmons looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Odinsson!

Odinsson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Simmons has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Simmons looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Odinsson tries to escape but Simmons is in control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Odinsson is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Simmons tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Simmons has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Simmons wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Odinsson, who protects the arm well.
Odinsson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Simmons has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Odinsson wants to control but Simmons postures up.

Simmons working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Odinsson is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



The fight moves into the clinch position.
Simmons presses Odinsson against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Simmons pulls guard successfully.
Odinsson trying to stand up but can't free himself from Simmons's guard.
Odinsson wants to stand and escape but instead Simmons has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Simmons landing with the ground and pound.
Odinsson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Simmons. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Odinsson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Odinsson wants to control but Simmons passes easily into half guard.

Simmons is working for a submission of some sort.
Simmons prevents Odinsson from standing back up.
Simmons slows the pace down in half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Simmons slips a nice elbow through Odinsson's hands, connecting with Odinsson's forehead.
Simmons is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Simmons perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Simmons is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Odinsson wants to control but Simmons is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Odinsson is trying to control but Simmons manages to pass to mount!
Odinsson tries to hold on but Simmons postures up.
Simmons landing strikes, looking to finish!

Simmons working for a guillotine from mount but Odinsson is in no mood to give up.
Odinsson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Simmons working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Tyrone Simmons overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Odinsson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Simmons dominating with strikes here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Simmons manages to capitalize on a mistake by Odinsson to take his back!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Simmons is landing with strikes. Odinsson can't take much more of this.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Odinsson is trying to stand. He's onto all fours with Simmons on his back. Simmons looks like he's slipping off but he's actually tansitioning to a beautiful armbar! Odinsson has to tap out to a very impressive submission!
