PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Manual Dormier (ranked 9368 p4p, 0 weight class) and Slick Minard (ranked 4286 p4p, 0 weight class). Minard has chosen D.N.A. by Kendrick Lamar as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Manual Dormier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Slick Minard!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Johanna Lukiainen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Minard tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Dormier counters with a nice uppercut.
Minard wants to clinch but Dormier slips to the side

Minard has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dormier can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Dormier is working Minard over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Minard escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dormier gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Minard not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Minard controls Dormier momentarily but Dormier frees himself.

Dormier might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Minard is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Dormier pulls his head out easily.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Dormier in particular looking to stall.
Dormier tries to pass the half guard into mount. Minard knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Dormier lands a nice short elbow.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Dormier looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Minard tries to get to full guard but Dormier has control of the leg.
Minard felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Minard is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Dormier pulls his head out easily.
Dormier working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Dormier avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Dormier looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Dormier is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Minard can do to turn this around?
Dormier is nestled in close to Minard, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Still in half guard, Dormier seems content to control.
Minard is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Dormier jumps into side control!
Minard takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Manual Dormier overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Dormier has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Minard's body.
Dormier has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Dormier lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Minard manages to reverse the position and now he's in Dormier's guard. Nice work there by Minard.
Dormier is pulling down on Minard's head to control his posture.

Minard wants to control from the top but Dormier keeps moving.

Minard drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Dormier manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Minard has Dormier in his guard.

Dormier stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Minard swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Dormier not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Minard fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dormier sprawls well initially but Minard persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Minard is working for a kimura but Dormier is defending it quite comfortably.

Dormier on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Dormier tries to get out of the position.

Minard postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Dormier is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Minard, into his guard.

Dormier's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Well Dormier has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
