The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn circles away from the clinch attempt

and Penn counters with a single leg into guard. Perkins didn't expect that.
Perkins wants to sweep but no luck.

Penn drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Penn jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Perkins knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Penn on the ground.
Penn pushes down on Perkins 's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Penn content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Penn works his way into side control.

Penn is working to tighten his grip on Perkins 's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Perkins has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Penn is really squeezing tight and eventually Perkins passes out! Penn breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
