Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kev Wooten (ranked 1830 p4p, 202 weight class) and Jeremy Pettis (ranked 2546 p4p, 271 weight class). Wooten comes to the cage accompanied by Gods gonna cut you down- Johnny Cash. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kev Wooten!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Jeremy Pettis!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Taro Takaoka and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Wooten misses with an uppercut
and Pettis counters with a one-two to the body.
Wooten misses with a left hand
and Pettis makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Pettis slips under a jab from Wooten.
Wooten sets himself, and Pettis steps forward looking for the clinch! Wooten avoids it this time.
Wooten misses with a body punch
and Pettis counters with a lovely straight right hand!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wooten falls off balance throwing a combination
enabling Pettis to counter with a crisp jab.

Wooten misses with an uppercut
and Pettis counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Wooten definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Wooten rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Pettis cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Wooten swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Pettis counters with a stiff right hand.
Kev Wooten seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pettis takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Wooten throws an off balance right hand
and Pettis connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Wooten misses with a left hand
and Pettis counters with a left and a right that stings Wooten.
Wooten throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Pettis cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Wooten falls off balance throwing a combination
and Pettis counters with a lovely straight right hand!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wooten misses with a double jab
and Pettis counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Pettis is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Wooten had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Wooten misses with a shot to the body
letting Pettis counter with a right hand.
Wooten throws a lazy body kick
and Pettis cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Wooten swinging wildly here.
A low kick from Wooten misses
and Pettis counters with a straight right hand.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pettis uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Wooten.
Wooten swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Wooten misses with an uppercut
and Pettis counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Wooten is pawing at Pettis, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Pettis's nose. Pettis is badly hurt! Wooten pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Pettis tries desperately to hold on but Wooten is relentless in his assault! As Pettis receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Wooten away and this one is in the books!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kev Wooten!
Kev Wooten spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
