Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jose Aldo (ranked 7679 p4p, 561 weight class) and Youkou Oonishi (ranked 5964 p4p, 513 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Aldo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Youkou Oonishi!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Matheus Silva and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aldo stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Aldo scores with a shot to the body.
Oonishi throws a lazy head kick
and Aldo counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Oonishi closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Aldo's guard.
Oonishi is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Aldo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Oonishi on the ground.
Aldo is looking to stand up but Oonishi isn't so interested in that idea.
Aldo trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Aldo fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Aldo fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Oonishi looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Aldo looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Oonishi shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Aldo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Aldo wants to stand up but Oonishi is controlling him.

Aldo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Donk. Aldo catches Oonishi right on the button with a cross.
Aldo is looking to wear down Oonishi with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Aldo ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Oonishi misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Oonishi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Aldo as he avoids it easily.

Aldo throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Oonishi lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Aldo circles away quickly and effectively.

Aldo connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Oonishi's hands.

Aldo uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Aldo cracks Oonishi with an open hand slap.
Aldo lands with an uppercut that bounces Oonishi off the cage and back into range.
Oonishi walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Aldo checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Aldo lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Oonishi backs up against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Oonishi throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Aldo throws out a powerful jab.
Oonishi takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Oonishi dives in and scores a takedown into Aldo's guard.

Aldo is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Oonishi postures up in Aldo's guard and throws a big left but Aldo blocks it.
Aldo is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Oonishi dives into side control.

Oonishi tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Oonishi wants to clinch
and Aldo counters with a straight right hand.
Oonishi closes the distance and clinches up with Aldo, looking for a takedown. Oonishi pushes Aldo against the cage but Aldo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Aldo swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Aldo keeps the fight on the outside.
Aldo was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Aldo is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Oonishi has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Oonishi there as he acknowledges the shot.
Aldo lunges at Oonishi with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Oonishi's hand.
Aldo digs a good body shot into Oonishi's ribs.
Oonishi doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Aldo counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aldo fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Oonishi raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

Aldo got a little sloppy there for a moment and Oonishi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Aldo has managed to get both his arms back between Oonishi's legs - danger averted.

Oonishi fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Aldo avoids it really well and circles away.

Aldo cracks Oonishi with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Oonishi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Oonishi takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Youkou Oonishi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Oonishi takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Aldo connects with a jab.

A decent looking cross lands there for Aldo.

Aldo throws a series of strikes that have Oonishi backpedaling.

Jose Aldo is winning the standup battle so far.
Aldo lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Aldo closes the distance and clinches.
Oonishi is trying to maintain a safe position but Aldo gets an underhook and turns Oonishi into the cage.
Oonishi tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Oonishi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Aldo lands a really nice looking cross but Oonishi seems unphased.
Aldo bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Aldo fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Youkou Oonishi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Oonishi has his takedown stuffed
enabling Aldo to counter with a crisp jab.

Jose Aldo showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Aldo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
