PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Holly Stackhouse (ranked 6297 p4p, 221 weight class) and Tomasz Zahir (ranked 25315 p4p, 318 weight class). Stackhouse comes to the cage accompanied by Tool - Jambi. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Holly Stackhouse!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tomasz Zahir!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Felipe Paraventi and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zahir shoots in and gets a takedown into Stackhouse's guard.
Zahir throws a strike but Stackhouse rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Stackhouse postures up.
Zahir wants to control the position but Stackhouse says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Stackhouse with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Stackhouse passes to side control.
Zahir is looking to get back to his feet here but Stackhouse is keeping cool and he's managed to take Zahir's back.
Zahir should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Stackhouse controlling the position well here. Zahir rolled but Stackhouse kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Stackhouse biding his time, looking for the opening.
Zahir is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Zahir has eaten all the pies!

Stackhouse controlling the position well here. Zahir rolled but Stackhouse kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Stackhouse seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Zahir for as long as he can get away with.

Stackhouse's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Zahir wants to escape the position.
Stackhouse will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Zahir is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Stackhouse.
Stackhouse continues to stall.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Stackhouse gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Zahir to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Stackhouse looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Zahir drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Stackhouse manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Zahir has Stackhouse in his guard.

Stackhouse is stalling in the full guard.
Zahir is breathing heavily.

Zahir looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Stackhouse puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Stackhouse works his foot free and advances to mount.
Stackhouse controlling the position easily from mount.
Stackhouse mounts Zahir! Really nice guard pass there!
Stackhouse takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
More hug and hope from Stackhouse.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Zahir is in bad spot here.
Stackhouse really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Zahir.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well Stackhouse has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
