Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Esteban Dixon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Max Power!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dixon drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Dixon misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Power tries to improve position but can't.
Power tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Dixon easily slips into full mount!
Dixon really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Dixon avoids the attempt from Power to control.
Power can't escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dixon jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Power manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Power is looking for a sweep.

Power struggling a bit here.
Power is looking to reverse the position.

Dixon is trying to get an arm triangle but Power is defending well.
Power can't do much from the bottom here.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Power sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Dixon takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Dixon is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Power blocking the ground and pound attempt from Dixon.
Dixon sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Power defending well though.
Power trying to control but Dixon postures up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Power has eaten all the pies!

Power clinches with his opponent.

Power jumps guard.
Power is trying to hold Dixon in close to prevent damage but Dixon has managed to pass into half guard.
Power has hold of Dixon's hands but Dixon slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Power kicks Dixon off and gets back to his feet.

Power has managed to clinch.
Power works on Dixon's body with a couple of short punches.

Dixon wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Power has clasped his hands together around Dixon's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Dixon explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Power decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Power stops Dixon from getting back to his feet.
Power thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Well, if Power is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That was a close round but I would say that Esteban Dixon will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Power rushes Dixon and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Power decides to pull guard.
Dixon loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Power is looking to stand up but Dixon isn't so interested in that idea.
Dixon stands up over Power, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Power is adopting a defensive guard.
Power wants to sweep here but Dixon controlling him for the moment.

Dixon is looking to stand up but Power won't let him.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Dixon is trying hard to land a takedown here. Power sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Power changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dixon looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Dixon gets back to half guard.

Dixon is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Power pulls his head out easily.

Power is trying to control. Dixon wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Power just misses with a punch to the body.
Dixon fails with a takedown attempt.
Power throws a sloppy head kick and Dixon moves out of range easily.
Dixon was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Dixon gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Power forces his way into half guard.
Dixon missing with punches from the bottom.
Power not doing much here.
Dixon is staying active underneath Power, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Power is looking for a kimura here.

Max Power showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!


Dixon dodges the punch combination from Power.
Dixon is looking for a counter combo.

Power shoots in and gets a takedown into Dixon's guard.

Power postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Dixon is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Power, into his guard.

Power wants to stand and escape but Dixon is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Dixon's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Dixon is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Dixon makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Power trying to control the position here.

Power uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Power tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Dixon was well out of range. Poor timing from Power.
Dixon closes this distance looking for a takedown but Power circles away.
Power is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Esteban Dixon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A head kick misses from Power.
Dixon is looking to counter punch.
Dixon swats away the attempt to clinch by Power.

Power has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Dixon wants to control but Power postures up.

Power stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Dixon is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Power is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Power fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Dixon to the ground. Power is now in Dixon's guard.
Power takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Power is looking to stand up but Dixon won't let him.
Dixon is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Dixon is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Dixon avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dixon looking to hit a scissor sweep but Power is one step ahead there.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Power throws a head kick that misses.
Dixon appears to be looking for a big counter.
Power tries to clinch there but Dixon circles away.
Power throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Dixon sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Max Power comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Power has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
