Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mario Jones (ranked 464 p4p, 74 weight class) and Pinchi Puto (ranked 1230 p4p, 189 weight class). Jones's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Quando Quando Quando. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mario Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pinchi Puto!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A bone on bone clash there as Puto blocks the leg kick.
We've been informed that Puto has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Puto throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jones buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Puto looks to land a left hand but Jones moved out of range nicely.
Jones misses with a few strikes there.
Jones fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Puto on the side of the head.
Puto takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Puto throws a right and a left that Jones avoids nicely.
A chopping leg kick lands by Jones.
Jones lands a head kick. Puto smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Jones scores with a nice strike.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jones has closed the distance and engaged Puto in a clinch.
Puto scores with a shoulder strike.
Puto looking to throw knees to the head but Jones is blocking nicely.
Jones digs a right hand into Puto's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Puto's gas tank.

Jones scores with a shot to the side of Puto's head.
I was talking to Jones's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Jones pulls guard effortlessly.

Jones seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Puto struggles to land a body shot inside as Jones controls his hands.
Puto pushes off an throws an elbow but Jones leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Jones blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Jones avoids a wild elbow strike from Puto.
Jones blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Puto is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Jones is defending well for now.
Puto misses with a punch to the body.
Jones blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Puto pushes off an throws an elbow but Jones leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Puto working aggressively here.
Puto tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
A short right from Jones.
Jones tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Puto's elbow.
Jones swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Jones blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Jones tries to throw a body punch but Puto avoids it by throwing Jones back against the cage.
Jones avoiding damage as Puto throws knees to the body.
Puto lands a shoulder strike.

Jones manages to pull guard.
Jones trying to keep a closed guard but Puto is proving a slippery customer.
Puto must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Jones is pulling down on Puto's head to control his posture.
Puto really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jones utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Puto preventing the sweep.
Jones has Puto pulled in close to control his posture.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Jones looking to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Puto lands with an overhand left.

Puto clinches.

Jones lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
A short left from Jones.
Puto misses with a punch to the body.
Puto lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mario Jones dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Jones slips a straight right by Puto.
Jones throws a sloppy head kick
and Puto counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Jones keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Puto throws a looping overhand right but Jones ducks down to avoid it.
Jones appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Puto scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Jones doesn't seem bothered though.
Puto throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Puto ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jones moves away.
Jones swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Jones thows a leg kick but Puto checks it
and Puto counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Jones throws a hook to the side of Puto's head but Puto sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Jones throws a left and a right that both miss
and Puto scores with a counter punch that sends Jones to the canvas! Puto smells blood - he's punishing Jones with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Jones has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pinchi Puto!
A less than humble Pinchi Puto misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
