Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jason Poller (ranked 25532 p4p, 703 weight class) and Grant McCombie (ranked 8380 p4p, 587 weight class). McCombie is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by the twist . Jason Poller has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Grant McCombie!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Michael Johnstone and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poller darts in looking for a takedown but McCombie gets double underhooks and turns Poller into the cage.
Poller tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
McCombie throws a nice looking combination but Poller bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
McCombie throws a sloppy head kick

and Poller counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Poller distracts McCombie with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
McCombie wants to stand but Poller is controlling the position.
Poller really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Poller is pushing down on McCombie's leg trying to pass to half guard. McCombie is fighting to maintain full guard but Poller has managed to sneak the leg through.

Poller is sneakily working for an arm triangle but McCombie sees it coming and defends easily.

McCombie really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Poller. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Poller wants to pass the guard but McCombie is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Poller is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, McCombie has managed to free his arm - good work.
McCombie is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Poller is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so McCombie is just riding it out for now. Poller eventually gives up the hold.
Poller prevents McCombie from standing back up.
McCombie is trying to maintain the position but Poller is very close to passing his half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Poller lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
McCombie is trying is best to control the position here.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Poller is working for a kimura but McCombie is defending it quite comfortably.
McCombie wants to get back to full guard.
McCombie trying to hold on to Poller's head to control him but Poller postures up.
McCombie wants to get back to his feet.

McCombie wants to get back to full guard.

Poller is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. McCombie doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Poller.

McCombie has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Poller is on him like a limpet, forcing McCombie back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McCombie shoots in but no luck this time.
McCombie stuffs the takedown attempt from Poller. Poller gets slowly back to his feet.
Despite the aggression on McCombie's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
McCombie misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
McCombie throws a head kick that Poller semi-blocks.

Poller looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

McCombie is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Poller defends well.
McCombie manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Poller manages to get himself to full guard.

McCombie is breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McCombie looking to improve position, pressing down on Poller's thigh with his hand. Poller seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is McCombie paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! McCombie's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Poller picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
