Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Van Wallace (ranked 23953 p4p, 0 weight class) and DJ Williams (ranked 6626 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Van Wallace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, DJ Williams!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Aleksandr Martynov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Williams drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wallace looking for a sweep. Not yet Wallace, not yet.
Wallace really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Williams throwing strikes from guard but Wallace blocks nicely.

Williams won't allow Wallace to sweep him here.
Wallace keeping moving, preventing Williams from controlling successfully.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wallace is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Williams is controlling him.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Williams shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Williams seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wallace does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Williams is pressing down on Wallace's thigh, looking to free his foot. Wallace is holding on for now.

Williams would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Wallace controls Williams momentarily but Williams frees himself.
Wallace pulls Williams in close to his closed guard and prevents Williams from doing any damage or advancing position.
Wallace is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Wallace has Williams pulled in close to control his posture.
Williams is stalling in the full guard.
Wallace wants to get back to his feet but Williams is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Williams fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Wallace gets caught flat footed, as Williams shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Wallace scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Williams throws a sloppy head kick and Wallace moves out of range easily.

Williams closes the distance and clinches.

Wallace pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Williams closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Wallace throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Wallace throws a push kick but Williams slaps the foot to one side.

Williams feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Wallace is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but DJ Williams will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


A head kick by Williams misses

and Wallace counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Williams pushes Wallace off and gets back to his feet.
Wallace walks into a straight right hand from Williams.

Williams shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Wallace manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wallace is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Williams tries to get to full guard but Wallace has control of the leg.
Wallace winds up and cracks Williams with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Wallace drops an elbow to the side of Williams's head.
Williams wants to improve his position but Wallace is controlling well.

Wallace wants to stand up but Williams has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Wallace is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Williams doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Wallace.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Wallace seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Wallace not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Williams is looking to escape.
Williams is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Wallace drops an elbow to the side of Williams's head.

Wallace slips a nice elbow through Williams's hands, connecting with Williams's forehead.
Wallace throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Wallace wants to work for an arm triangle but Williams is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Williams.
Williams blocks the body kick.

Wallace tries to sprawl but Williams drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Wallace tries to kick Williams off in order to stand up. Williams Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Wallace wants to get back to his feet.

Wallace wants to control but Williams postures up.
Wallace is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Williams is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Wallace has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Wallace regains half guard.
Wallace slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Williams prevents Wallace from getting back to his feet.

Wallace looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Williams passes into half guard.

Williams is breathing heavily.

Wallace pushes Williams off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Van Wallace will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Williams closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Williams escapes and gets back to his feet.
Williams tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Wallace was well out of range. Poor timing from Williams.
Wallace moves in looking to clinch but Williams pushes him off.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wallace keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Williams's efforts to push away.
The referee is keeping an eye on Wallace - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Williams gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Wallace regains guard.

Wallace is pulling down on Williams's head to control his posture.
Wallace controls Williams momentarily but Williams frees himself.
Wallace is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Wallace pushes Williams off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Wallace wants to clinch up but Williams keeps it at a distance.
Williams steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Wallace.

Williams moves into the clinch.

Williams tightens his grip and picks Wallace up, before dumping him to the ground. Wallace manages to land in guard.

Williams takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Wallace lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Wallace postures up in Williams's guard and throws a big left but Williams blocks it.
Wallace stands up over Williams, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Wallace controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Williams isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Wallace stacks Williams on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Wallace!

Wallace decides to stand up, so the ref orders Williams to his feet.

Williams drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Wallace manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Williams tries to roll over but Wallace keeps him under control.
Williams wants to control but Wallace is keeping busy.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Wallace connects with a nice short shot to Williams's temple.
Still in half guard, Wallace seems content to control.
Wallace looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Wallace is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Wallace is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Wallace is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Williams doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Wallace.

And that's the end of the fight!
Van Wallace showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Wallace has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
