Santos comes to the cage accompanied by Open the tcheka. Kadu Alves has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Rodrigo Santos's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kadu Alves!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Roosa Järviläinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos misses with a combination
and Alves counters with a stiff right hand.

Alves is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Santos's half guard.

Alves is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Santos defends it well.
Alves is pressing down on Santos's thigh, looking to free his foot. Santos is holding on for now.
Santos is trying to stand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Santos tries to get to full guard but Alves has control of the leg.

Santos manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Santos misses with a takedown attempt - Alves sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.

and Alves counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Alves fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Santos, pushing him back against the cage.

Santos's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Santos tries for a takedown but Alves circles away easily
and Alves counters with a straight right hand.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rodrigo Santos. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Santos misses with a takedown attempt
and Alves counters with a series of strikes. Santos will be more careful next time no doubt.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Alves.
Alves remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Alves lands a nice forearm strike.
We've been hearing good reports from Santos's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Alves slows the pace down.

Alves working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Alves tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Alves has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Alves lands a decent elbow from side control.

Alves is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Santos knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Santos is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Alves asserts his dominance and retains side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Alves landing a few strikes.


Santos is rocked!

Alves decides to stand back up. Alves steps back and let's Santos get back to his feet.
Santos shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Alves pinned against the cage. Alves gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Alves has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far.

Alves clinches up with Santos and pushes him back against the cage.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Alves pulls Santos into guard.
Santos with a flurry of punches that miss.
Alves preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Santos postures up.
Alves is pulling down on Santos's head. It's preventing any offense from Santos, at least for the moment.
Santos lands a couple of digs.

Alves uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Santos moves to clinch but Alves breaks away
and Alves counters with a stiff right hand.
Santos with a poor takedown
and Alves counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Oh Santos is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Santos tries to clinch but Alves moves away
and Alves counters with a crisp right that sends Santos to the canvas! Alves follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kadu Alves!
