PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Richie Crawford (ranked 6555 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mr Fighter (ranked 6521 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Richie Crawford!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mr Fighter!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, David Schapiro and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fighter plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!


It looks like Richie Crawford has been cut.
Crawford circles away from the clinch attempt.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Crawford enables Fighter to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Crawford manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Crawford uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Fighter looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Crawford tries to kick Fighter off but Fighter keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Fighter is looking to take a break and control but Crawford is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Crawford has his hands clasped together around Fighter's back. He's all about the action.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Crawford pushes Fighter off looking to stand but Fighter dives back in and keeps control.
Fighter wants to take a breather but Crawford is having none of it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Fighter throws a sloppy head kick and Crawford moves out of range easily.

Fighter dives in and scores a takedown into Crawford's guard.
Fighter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Crawford. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Crawford utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Fighter wants to pass the guard but Crawford is keeping the position.
Fighter postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Crawford throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Crawford really is a fat lump.
Fighter trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Crawford manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Crawford wants to stand and escape but instead Fighter has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Fighter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Crawford swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Crawford doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Fighter trying to control but Crawford is working from the bottom.
Fighter is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Fighter controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Crawford pushes Fighter off and scrambles back to his feet.

Fighter shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Crawford manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Crawford wants to get back to his feet but Fighter passes into half guard.

Fighter trying to mount his opponent but Crawford defends it.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mr Fighter will probably get the nod.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Excellent takedown into side control there by Fighter.
Sloppy strikes there by Fighter.
Fighter wants to lay and pray for a moment but Crawford keeps working.
Crawford might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Fighter goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Crawford has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Fighter but great work by Crawford.
Fighter is looking for a sweep.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Crawford stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Fighter swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Crawford tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Fighter manages to circle out of the way.

Fighter bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Crawford explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Fighter is breathing heavily.

Fighter shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Crawford's guard.

Crawford working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fighter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fighter manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Fighter must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Fighter gets to his feet. Crawford looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Fighter walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Crawford checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
It looked like Crawford was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Fighter tries to clinch up but Crawford circles away and keeps his distance.

Fighter closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Crawford misses with an elbow over the top.
Fighter has Crawford pressed against the cage, preventing Crawford from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Fighter jumps guard and drags Crawford to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Crawford is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Fighter has a closed guard, preventing Crawford from standing up.
Crawford is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Fighter is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Crawford tries to stand but Fighter is controlling from the bottom.

Crawford stands and steps away. Fighter gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Fighter closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Fighter lands in his opponent's guard.

Fighter wanted to stand there but Crawford had control of the position.
Fighter looking to sit in guard and control but Crawford gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Crawford stands up and waves to Fighter to follow him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Fighter fails with an attempt to clinch.
Richie Crawford is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fighter tries to close the distance and clinch but Crawford swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Crawford wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

Fighter shoots in and bounces Crawford off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Crawford wriggles free and stands up.

Crawford closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Fighter is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Crawford scores with a couple of nice shots.
Crawford takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Fighter wants to improve his position but Crawford is controlling well.
Fighter wants to control but Crawford is keeping busy.

Crawford decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Fighter tries to clinch but Crawford moves out of range.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Richie Crawford showed his dominance in that final round.
