Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Elijah Monroe (ranked 6562 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mel Jo (ranked 8235 p4p, 813 weight class). Mel Jo is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Elijah Monroe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mel Jo!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yuuki Gou and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jo dodges the punch combination from Monroe.

Jo drives through with a takedown into Monroe's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Monroe looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Jo sitting in guard here, content to control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Monroe swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Monroe is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jo is aware though and is defending well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Monroe could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Monroe has his foot on Jo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jo works his way back into a safe position though.
Jo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Monroe swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Jo looking to pass the guard.
Jo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Monroe seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Jo takes the fight into the clinch.
Jo manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Monroe will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Jo up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mel Jo will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Jo closes the distance and clinches.
Jo wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Monroe has him pressed against the cage.
Monroe misses with a punch to the body.

Monroe breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Monroe looks for a takedown but Jo sprawls well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jo shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Monroe keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Mel Jo has got the better of the ground game so far.

Monroe had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jo defends it easily.

Monroe looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Jo has picked Monroe up and slammed him! Monroe can't keep hold of the triangle and Jo manages to pass to side control!
Jo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Monroe. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jo advances to mount.
Jo throwing strikes here but Monroe is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jo thowing shots but they're missing.

Jo goes for an armbar but Monroe turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Monroe.
Jo is breathing heavily.

Monroe stands and steps away. Jo gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Jo misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Monroe slows down the pace here.

The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Jo gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Monroe regains guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Mel Jo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Jo has closed the distance and engaged Monroe in a clinch.

Monroe breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jo throws a right hand that Monroe ducks under and follows up with a left that Monroe also avoids with ease.
Elijah Monroe is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Jo drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Monroe is looking for a triangle here but Jo uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Jo decides to stand back up. Jo steps back and let's Monroe get back to his feet.

Monroe looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Monroe working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Monroe throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Jo escapes and throws Monroe's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Jo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Monroe keeps working.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jo wants to control but Monroe is keeping him busy.
Monroe regains half guard.

Monroe actively working from the bottom here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jo wants to take a breather but Monroe is having none of it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mel Jo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Jo winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
