The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mandela fails to land the takedown.
Mandela darts in looking for a takedown but Perpai gets double underhooks and turns Mandela into the cage.
Mandela shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Perpai but Perpai pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nelson Mandela. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mandela takes one on the button.
Perpai throws a series of punches but Mandela moves out of range.
Perpai throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Mandela feinted with a counter takedown.
Perpai misses the shot to the body.
Mandela will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
No joy there for Perpai, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Perpai lands a high kick!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Perpai throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Perpai throws a combination. Mandela tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Perpai moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Perpai stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Perpai wants it to stay on the feet.
Perpai digs a good hook to Mandela's body.

Mandela throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Perpais head.

Mandela manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Perpai is posturing up here but Mandela has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Perpai tries to roll out but it's too tight and Perpai has to tap! Slick submission there by Mandela!
