Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Zygmunt Stec (ranked 7467 p4p, 0 weight class) and Guilherme Cruz (ranked 6663 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Zygmunt Stec!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Guilherme Cruz!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Michael Johnstone and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz moves to clinch but Stec breaks away
and Stec counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Nice sprawl there from Stec as Cruz shoots in.
Stec is looking for a counter combo.
Stec fails with the takedown

and Cruz counters by moving into the clinch.
Stec prevents a takedown attempt there.

Cruz has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Stec uses from the top position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Stec trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cruz is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Cruz closes the distance and pushes Stec back into the cage.
Cruz makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Stec tries to pull guard but Cruz holds him up against the cage and eventually Stec drops back down to his feet.

Stec really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Cruz avoids the head kick by Stec.
And Cruz tries to counter it with a takedown but Stec pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Stec cracks Cruz with an open hand slap.
Stec moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Cruz shoots and misses
and Stec counters with a three punch combo that has Cruz backing up. Cruz nods at Stec to acknowledge the strikes.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Stec counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Cruz looks winded!

Stec is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Cruz makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Cruz.
Stec wants to pass the guard but Cruz is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cruz tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Stec trying to control the position from guard on top but Cruz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Stec trying to control but Cruz is working from the bottom.
Cruz wants to sweep but no luck.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Cruz keeping moving, preventing Stec from controlling successfully.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

and Stec counters with a one-two to the body.

Cruz shoots in but no luck this time.
Stec lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Cruz rushes Stec and presses him up against the cage.
Cruz stalls.

Cruz breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cruz throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Cruz throws a right and a left that Stec avoids nicely.
Stec dives in and grabs Cruz's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cruz pushes down on Stec's head and hops out.
Cruz closes the distance but Stec moves to the side
and Stec counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Stec's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Stec has a takedown stuffed.
Stec tries for a takedown but Cruz sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Stec stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Stec wants it to stay on the feet.
Stec tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cruz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Stec somewhat.
Cruz changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zygmunt Stec. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cruz jumps guard and drags Stec to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Stec jumps guard but Cruz stands there with Stec around his waist. Stec gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Cruz stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Cruz takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Stec managing to block the knees to the body from Cruz.

Stec has Cruz pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Stec pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Cruz tumbling to the mat - Stec dives into Cruz's guard.
Cruz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Stec's guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cruz looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Stec controls Cruz momentarily but Cruz frees himself.

Stec has his foot on Cruz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cruz works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Cruz controls from within his opponent's guard.
Cruz's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Stec preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Stec will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Guilherme Cruz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Cruz shoots in looking for a takedown. Stec tries to sprawl out of it but Cruz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Stec manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Zygmunt Stec is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Stec defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Cruz.

Cruz has taken the fight to the clinch.
Stec wants a takedown but no success here.
Stec blocks the elbow strike.
Cruz is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Stec is defending well for now.

Stec is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Cruz manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Cruz shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Stec defends it nicely.

As Cruz looks to move away, Stec throws a big counter combo but Cruz just gets out of the way.
Cruz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Stec's waist but Stec gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cruz off to one side.

and Stec counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Stec has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Cruz after a bit of a struggle.
Stec tries to pull guard but Cruz won't allow it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stec has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Stec wants to stand and escape but Cruz is having none of it.
Guilherme Cruz has got the better of the ground game so far.

Cruz is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Cruz stops Stec from standing up.

Cruz has closed the distance and engaged Stec in a clinch.

I would just about give that final round to Guilherme Cruz.
I think Cruz has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
