The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones tries for a takedown but Martinez sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Martinez tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jones was well out of range. Poor timing from Martinez.
Martinez throws a hook but Jones blocks it.
Jones looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Martinez is fending him off so far but Jones persists. Nope, Martinez circles away and we're back to standing.
Martinez is looking to counter the offense by Jones and move into the clinch.

and Martinez counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Martinez seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Santiago Martinez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luther Jones.
Martinez throws a hook to the side of Jones's head but Jones sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Jones closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Jones thows a huge punch but Martinez dodges it nicely.

Martinez can't keep his opponent in guard - Jones advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Jones seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Martinez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Jones has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
