Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, James Holden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Malcolm McKenzie!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Michael Johnstone and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McKenzie feints and as Holden raises his hands in defense, McKenzie changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
McKenzie content to stall in guard here.
McKenzie pushes down on Holden's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Holden wants to control but McKenzie is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McKenzie with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Holden is trying to control but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McKenzie seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Holden trying to control but McKenzie postures up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Holden throws a sloppy head kick and McKenzie moves out of range easily.
McKenzie is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Holden misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
McKenzie keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Holden.
McKenzie changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Holden tries to avoid it but McKenzie manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Holden to the ground. Holden escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Holden changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. McKenzie looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

McKenzie sneaks out the side door and pushes Holden away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

McKenzie takes the fight into the clinch.
McKenzie keeps control of Holden as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Holden wants to break free but McKenzie has control.
McKenzie jumps guard but Holden turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Holden successfully pulls guard.
McKenzie pushes down on Holden's leg and manages to get into half guard.
McKenzie looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
McKenzie stalling.
Holden is controlling McKenzie's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Still in half guard, McKenzie seems content to control.

McKenzie frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
McKenzie sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Malcolm McKenzie dominated that round.

Holden pulls out of a head kick attempt.

McKenzie drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Holden has his feet on McKenzie's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Holden misses with a double jab.
Holden throws a right and a left that both miss.
McKenzie changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Holden throws a push kick but McKenzie slaps the foot to one side.

McKenzie gets the takedown into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McKenzie moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
McKenzie is continuing to stall.
McKenzie has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at 10th Planet Islanders. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Malcolm McKenzie has got the better of the ground game so far.
McKenzie advances to mount.
Holden gets back to half guard.
Holden wants to get back to full guard.
McKenzie controlling the pace.
Holden keeping control of the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
McKenzie slows the pace down in half guard.
Let's hope that McKenzie has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

McKenzie prevents Holden from improving his position.
McKenzie has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

McKenzie works his foot free and advances to mount.
McKenzie fails to move to back control.
McKenzie content just to control the position here.
Holden looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McKenzie's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from McKenzie.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
McKenzie takes Holden's back.
Holden is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by McKenzie.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Malcolm McKenzie will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



McKenzie is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Holden's half guard.
Holden has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McKenzie is working away from the top position though.
McKenzie works his way into full mount!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The adventures of McKenzie the control monster continue. Boring.

Holden tries to control McKenzie's body but McKenzie pushes him off. Holden squirms to his side and now McKenzie has his back!
McKenzie just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
More stalling from McKenzie.
Holden tries to roll but McKenzie sticks to his back.

Good control from McKenzie.
McKenzie with more of the same as he continues to hold on.
James Holden has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McKenzie controlling well, preventing Holden from escaping the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Holden trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
McKenzie biding his time, looking for the opening.
Malcolm McKenzie is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Holden rolls, trying to escape but McKenzie keeps control of the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Malcolm McKenzie comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got McKenzie winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
