TWGC 18 (170lbs, D1): St Petersburg Qualifier - Round 2 PBP Commentary


Coming up we have a welterweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Police Officer (ranked 4891 p4p, 625 weight class) and Predator Burns (ranked 910 p4p, 109 weight class). Burns has chosen Jiu-Jitsu as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Police Officer! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 9 wins and 8 losses; Predator Burns!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Ivan Kurochkin and Valeri Chadov.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Burns darts in looking for a takedown but Officer gets double underhooks and turns Burns into the cage.

Burns jumps into guard, dragging Officer to the mat.
Officer wants to control from the top but Burns keeps moving.
Officer tries to free his leg and advance position but Burns is retaining full guard.

Burns trying to keep a closed guard but Officer is proving a slippery customer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like Burns might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Officer is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Burns has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Officer working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Burns doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Burns manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Police Officer very nearly forgot to thank Humanoid Nutrition (160Q for 180$) amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
