The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fawce dives in for a single leg takedown but Xavier sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Xavier cracks Fawce with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Fawce misses with a takedown
and Xavier connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Fawce changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Xavier tries to avoid it but Fawce manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Xavier to the ground. Xavier escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Max Fawce. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Fawce shoots for a double leg takedown but Xavier sprawls well. He's pushed Fawce's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Xavier's coach down at Gizmo's Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Xavier's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Xavier throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Xavier throws a head kick but Fawce moves out of range.
Joao Vitor Xavier is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Fawce is defended easily by Xavier.
Xavier fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Fawce manages to avoid it.
Xavier fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Fawce looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Fawce has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Ferocious Beast in the buildup to the fight.
Xavier is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Fawce.
Fawce was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Xavier stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Xavier throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Fawce sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Fawce appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Fawce doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Xavier connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Xavier lands a jab to Fawce's midsection.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Oh Fawce is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fawce walks straight into a right hand from Xavier - that's dropped him! Xavier jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Fawce from any more punishment! Fawce complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
