Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sergei Vilankow (ranked 7507 p4p, 772 weight class) and Emre Can (ranked 5789 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sergei Vilankow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Emre Can!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Peter Branson and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vilankow takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Vilankow clinches up with Can and pushes him back against the cage.
Vilankow misses with a short punch on the inside.
Can misses with a hook from the clinch.
Can tries to throw a body punch but Vilankow avoids it by throwing Can back against the cage.
Can fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Vilankow swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Can tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Can blocking some punches.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Vilankow.

Can breaks from the clinch.
Vilankow avoids the body shot from Can.
Vilankow half committed to a counter leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Can throws a predictable looking body shot
and Vilankow counters with a nice low kick that buckles Can's knee momentarily.
Can dives in and grabs Vilankow's left leg, looking for a takedown. Vilankow pushes down on Can's head and hops out.

Emre Can seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Vilankow has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Can throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Vilankow blocks it with crossed arms.

Can takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Some bone on bone action there as Can checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Can looks to clinch
and Vilankow finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Vilankow.
Can doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Vilankow scores with a crisp jab that stopped Can in his tracks.
Vilankow stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Vilankow wants it to stay on the feet.

Can with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Vilankow to score with a decent uppercut.

Can takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Sergei Vilankow is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Can fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Vilankow feints and then cracks Can's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Can down.

Can takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Vilankow lands a head shot.
Can is still on wobbly legs! Can Vilankow finish him?
Vilankow avoids a punch combination nicely.
Can seems to have recovered his senses.
Vilankow with a hook.
The fighters circle, before Vilankow throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Can's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Vilankow lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

After the fight, Sergei Vilankow was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
