Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Djamolidine Abdoujaparov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Billy Kidman!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, David Schapiro and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kidman shoots and misses
and Abdoujaparov makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Kidman shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Abdoujaparov sprawls well. Abdoujaparov wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kidman gets slowly back to his feet.
Kidman looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Djamolidine Abdoujaparov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Billy Kidman.
Kidman closes the distance and clinches up with Abdoujaparov, looking for a takedown. Kidman pushes Abdoujaparov against the ropes but Abdoujaparov circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Kidman looks winded!
Kidman gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Abdoujaparov counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Abdoujaparov punishes Kidman's body with a nice straight punch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Abdoujaparov lands with a good body shot.
Abdoujaparov fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Abdoujaparov fails to land with a series of punches.
Abdoujaparov lands with a shot to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Abdoujaparov cracks Kidman with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Kidman tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Abdoujaparov pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Kidman is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:07 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Djamolidine Abdoujaparov!
