PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cayden Cadman (ranked 3079 p4p, 306 weight class) and Jin Jin Ipa (ranked 3009 p4p, 294 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cayden Cadman !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jin Jin Ipa!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Lou da Vinci and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cadman tries to clinch there but Ipa circles away.
Cadman lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Ipa at a distance.
Danga de danga de dang - Cadman scores with a four punch combination!
Ipa shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cadman as he avoids it easily.
Cadman tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ipa manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

and Cadman moves into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ipa takes a shot to the head.
Cadman lands an uppercut.
Cadman stalling in the clinch.
Ipa is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Cadman to keep the fight standing.
Cayden Cadman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jin Jin Ipa.

Ipa ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Ipa no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ipa looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Cadman seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Ipa is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Ipa thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Ipa wants to pass the guard but Cadman is defending well.

Ipa is working for a kimura but Cadman is defending it quite comfortably.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ipa wants to free his trapped foot but Cadman is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Ipa works his way into side control.
Cadman dodges the ground and pound from Ipa.

Ipa wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cadman , who protects the arm well.
You can see the frustration on Cadman 's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Cadman prevents Ipa from moving into mount.
Cadman wants to control but Ipa postures up.
Ipa tries to move into full mount but can't pass Cadman 's legs.
Both fighters take a look at the clock.
Ipa in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Ipa misses with the ground and pound.

Ipa tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Cadman takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Ipa works to advance to full mount. Cadman defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Cadman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ipa on the ground.
Cadman wants to control but Ipa is having none of it.

Ipa jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Cadman is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Cadman and Ipa has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ipa tries to move to mount but Cadman blocks the move with his legs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jin Jin Ipa dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Cadman tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ipa swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Ipa drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Cadman defends it well.
Ipa takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Cadman throws a series of punches but Ipa moves out of range.
Ipa throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cadman 's waist but Cadman gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ipa off to one side.
Ipa keeps the fight on the outside.
And Ipa tries to counter it with a takedown but Cadman pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Cadman lands with a thumping leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ipa looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cadman is fending him off so far but Ipa persists. Nope, Cadman circles away and we're back to standing.
As Ipa tries to get set, Cadman tries to push him back and clinch up but Ipa manages to avoid the attempt.

and Ipa counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ipa.

Cadman is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Ipa passes into half guard.
Ipa is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Cadman !
Jin Jin Ipa has got the better of the ground game so far.

Ipa with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Ipa is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Cadman can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Ipa swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Cadman is now in Ipa's guard. A big mistake from Ipa there, giving up the dominant position!

Ipa has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cadman can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Ipa is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Cadman is aware though and is defending well.

Ipa is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cadman defends well.

Cadman is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Ipa working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cadman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cadman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Cadman wants to control from the top but Ipa keeps moving.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Cadman lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Cadman is looking to regain half guard here but Ipa keeps moving and retains side control.

Ipa has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Cadman defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Ipa.

Ipa looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Ipa looking to ground and pound but Cadman is blocking nicely.

Cadman is in a horrible position here. Ipa smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Cadman wants to control but Ipa is having none of it.

Ipa is looking to advance position but Cadman won't allow it.

Ipa uses his free foot to push down on Cadman 's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Cadman .
Cadman is looking to get to half guard.

Ipa has control of Cadman 's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Cadman regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Ipa working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Cayden Cadman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cadman wants to hold on but Ipa pushes him away.

Jin Jin Ipa comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Ipa winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
