Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aawut Sundwarrama (ranked 2794 p4p, 323 weight class) and Tanishk Soni (ranked 6383 p4p, 619 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aawut Sundwarrama!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 37 - 45 - 2, fighting out of Tokyo, Tanishk Soni!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Atkins and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sundwarrama scores with a one two! Soni had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.


It looks like Tanishk Soni has been cut.

Sundwarrama rushes Soni and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Sundwarrama misses with a knee to the head.
Sundwarrama stalling the fight.

Sundwarrama manages to break the clinch.
Soni fails to land with a series of punches.
Sundwarrama connects with a crisp jab.
Sundwarrama misses with a wild combination.

Oooooh!!! Sundwarrama has knocked Soni down with a huge combo! Sundwarrama steps away and waves a wobbly Soni back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


Soni is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Soni shoots in but no luck this time.
Soni wants to clinch.
Sundwarrama avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Sundwarrama misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Soni only half commits to the counter leg kick.

Soni gets caught flat footed, as Sundwarrama shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Sundwarrama is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Sundwarrama with a flurry of punches that miss.
Soni wants to stand up but Sundwarrama is controlling him.
Sundwarrama has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Sundwarrama not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Soni has a closed guard, preventing Sundwarrama from standing up.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Sundwarrama rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Soni moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Sundwarrama closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Soni quickly recovers to half guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Sundwarrama's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Soni is trying to control but Sundwarrama manages to pass to mount!

The cut above Tanishk Soni's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Sundwarrama tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Soni is trying desperately to improve position.
Sundwarrama thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Sundwarrama throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Sundwarrama takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Sundwarrama's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Soni tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sundwarrama swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Soni looks for the body kick but Sundwarrama saw that one coming.
Sundwarrama is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Soni can do to turn this around?

Soni gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sundwarrama to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Soni utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Soni has taken the fight to the clinch.
Soni tries to break free but Sundwarrama pushes him back against the cage.

Sundwarrama escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Sundwarrama has closed the distance and engaged Soni in a clinch.

Soni looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
A body shot lands from Sundwarrama.
Soni is breathing heavily.
Sundwarrama lands a body shot.

Sundwarrama pulls guard.
Sundwarrama might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Soni won't allow Sundwarrama to sweep him here.
Aawut Sundwarrama overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Soni is fighting to break Sundwarrama's control of his arms but Sundwarrama is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Sundwarrama on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Sundwarrama tries to get out of the position.
Sundwarrama throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Soni preventing the sweep.
Sundwarrama pulls Soni in close to prevent any damage.
Sundwarrama lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Soni can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Sundwarrama controls the pace.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Sundwarrama has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sundwarrama wants to free his trapped foot but Soni is holding on for dear life with his legs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Sundwarrama closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Sundwarrama remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Sundwarrama's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sundwarrama circles away from the clinch attempt.
Sundwarrama fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Soni tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Sundwarrama defends well and Soni ends up having to push Sundwarrama into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Sundwarrama seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Sundwarrama lands with a slapping head kick.
A thudding body kick lands there by Sundwarrama!
Soni takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Sundwarrama lands a big head kick that sends Soni tumbling to the mat! Sundwarrama takes a step backwards and waves Soni back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Soni is still on wobbly legs! Can Sundwarrama finish him?


Tanishk Soni's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Tanishk Soni's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:36 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Aawut Sundwarrama!
Aawut Sundwarrama gave a mention to ON TAP 160Q Nutrition in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
